Maxwell-Storrie-Baynes: Founder and Partner


Doug is the Financial Director of Maxwell-Storrie-Baynes bringing a methodical, organized and diligent approach to sales and investment decision making. He is no stranger to sophisticated clients and investment products having spent over 25 years in investment banking in the City of London. Doug's banking background is a significant asset to Maxwell-Storrie-Baynes given the company's focus on selling real estate assets such as vineyards that also have strong business and risk components to understand and advise on. Reviewing complex risk assessment and skillful negotiating strategies are hallmarks of Doug's professional and sales background.

Doug, originally from Ayrshire in the South West of Scotland began his career with Royal Bank of Scotland before moving to London. He has held senior level management positions with several major international banks in roles which included trading, sales and marketing with major clients in the Corporate, Institutional and Government sector. Although primarily based in London Doug has travelled extensively in his roles with Chase Manhattan Bank, Bank of America and First Union National Bank where his responsibilities as Director of Treasury and Capital Markets included all activity in Europe and Asia. Prior to moving to France he worked as a Director of Thompson and Associates Executive Search focusing on senior level assignments in Investment Banking .

He is a fully qualified Banker having completed the Diploma and Associate qualifications with the Institute of Bankers in Scotland and has previously presented seminars in various aspects of financial risk management to clients and through the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Doug moved from London to South West France almost five years ago and has settled with his wife Fiona and their two daughters, near Branne on the Dordogne river.
