British Airways comes to Bergerac. The city received a big boost earlier this month with the announcement of new British Airways flights to Dordogne’s Bergerac airport.
On the 1st May, 2016, the first British Airways flight from London City Airport will touch down at Bergerac Roumanières airport. This is a significant step up in the world for Bergerac airport, which until now has only hosted low-cost airlines. The flights will operate three times a week year round, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays and 4 times a week from June 23rd to September 1st, adding a Thursday flight. The flights are being offered from 73€ one way, with an option without baggage, and will also offer business class seats at around 200€ one way. Complimentary on-board drinks and snacks are served.
An inauguration event, ‘Licenced to Launch’ with a James Bond theme was held at Bergerac airport on Thursday 14th April. Kirsten Pollard representing Christie’s affiliate agency Maxwell-Storrie-Baynes in the Dordogne, attended the event that included cocktails served by the hospitality and management school, Ecole de Savignac, a Scottish bag piper in traditional attire, and speakers from the Dordogne Chamber of Commerce, City Airport and Guillaume Paccot from British Airways. The event was well attended by both the British and French community and carried the Casino Royale theme, adding a touch of glamour to Bergerac airport. Kirsten Pollard said “ It is very encouraging for the region and a real plus for our clientèle that a prestigious airline like British Airways is investing here, providing an easy link for people coming to the region from Central London, including the substantial French population, being that City Airport can be reached from Central London in just 20 minutes, and offering the option for traveling in the comfort of business class. It will also open up opportunities for Real Estate Dordogne based businesses to access the Capital and receive clients in style.”
The British Airway flight takes 1h40 minutes in Saab 2000 – 50 seaters and Embraer aircraft with 80 and 108 seats. City airport boasts that they are the most punctual airport and that passengers will be out of the departure lounge and on the taxi rank within 15 minutes of touch down. There will also be connecting British Airways flights to New York (business class only), Scotland, Venice and Berlin.
