On March 31st the team at MSB said a fond farewell to one of its partners, Doug Storrie. Doug one of the original founding members of Maxwell-Storrie-Baynes, and his wife Fiona made a family decision in the autumn of 2014 to move back to the UK where his (now) adult daughters live and work.

Doug has been a significant and important member of the MSB team and along with Karin and Michael founded and then directed the daily operations of the business. Having come from an investment banking background in the city of London, Doug came to France in 2005 with his young family to fulfil a dream to live here. By 2008 he had met Karin Maxwell and Michael Baynes who together with Doug cast a vision for a market leading luxury real estate specialist. Their natural friendship and chemistry formed the basis for what was to become a great partnership and in time one of the market leaders for marketing luxury property in Bordeaux, Dordogne and the Cognac regions of the South West of France.
The vision was never to build an empire but rather to be the very best in a local area focusing on high quality agents and an inventory of the best properties in the region. By 2010 MSB had caught the eye of Christie’s International Real Estate who seek out the market leaders in important regions to invite into their affiliation.

Doug’s role was multifaceted as is always the case in a small business, however it was in his leadership of the residential division of the business that he will be most strongly remembered, especially by clients with whom he worked and in many cases made good friends with.

Although Doug will be missed by many here in France, his influence will remain with MSB as he will continue in an advisory capacity to Karin and Michael as a non-executive board member. And of course, his name will continue to form a part of the brand that he helped to create, which today has come a long way to realizing the vision that was cast by the founders seven years ago.

We wish you the best of luck Doug and thank you for all that you have contributed to making MSB what it is today.
