As Executive Partner and holder of a Carte Professionnelle, Doug provides strategic direction to the development of the company’s residential activity, covering the Bordeaux area, the Charente, Dordogne, Gironde and Lot regions.
Having worked previously in client facing roles in banking, Doug brings an approachable, organized and practical style to sales and investment decision making. Given Maxwell-Storrie-Baynes’ focus on selling real estate assets that contain complex business and risk components, his banking background is a significant asset to the agency. Analysing transactions with structural complexity and skillful negotiating strategies are hallmarks of Doug’s professional and sales background. Being responsive, ensuring that clients are well-informed and, as a result, are able to make good decisions, are all key elements of the service provided by Maxwell-Storrie-Baynes.
Originally from Ayrshire in the South West of Scotland, Doug began his career with Royal Bank of Scotland before moving to London. He has held senior level management positions with several major international banks in roles which included trading, sales and marketing, with major clients in the corporate, institutional and government sector. Although primarily based in London, Doug travelled extensively in his roles with Chase Manhattan Bank, Bank of America and First Union National Bank, where his responsibilities as Director of Treasury and Capital Markets included all activity in Europe and Asia. Prior to moving to France in 2005, he was a Director of Thompson and Associates Executive Search focusing on senior level assignments in investment banking.
Living with his family near St Emilion, to the east of Bordeaux, Doug is able to pursue and develop his interest in property in an area that boasts a rich architectural heritage. Balancing his passion for cycling with the local gastronomy remains an ongoing challenge.
